Outstanding performance in Kennewick! Good reason for the happy dance! Rising in the ranks. Fun road trip, with a stop at LIGO.

“Totally awesome” for once can be taken literally!

We drove to the edge of Pine Bluff overlook for a 60-mile vista to distant hills of the Ozarks above the valley near Russellville in the center of Arkansas, and more critically important, in the CENTER of the SHADOW. The sky was blue and clear, and the high wispy cirrus decorated but did not obstruct the fireworks. Venus and Jupiter danced a duet on opposite sides of the corona. Red flare and diamond necklace beads shone brilliantly. Wow. Nothing in your experience of life prepares you for a total eclipse of the sun. Psalm 19 is probably as good of a preparation as you can imagine.

In only his second tournament (1st was a week ago), grandson won 3 games, which qualified him for State Championships. A surprisingly strong showing. Then off to Shake Shack to celebrate with the family. Fun!

images run through my mind, two weeks after returning home. White tundra, crashing sea ice, Northern Lights, fresh tracks and new friends…

Best star gazing of the year, early a.m. today. Cross-country zone near Panhandle Gap. One last day of summer, one spectacular night under the Milky Way.

Wow! Bucket List item #1. Check and recheck. Multiple nights 🤠

We landed in a fjord never visited before by the captain and crew, uncharted waters, of course, as are most of the waters around Greenland, and set off for our morning expedition under a sunbow.

We cruised the outfall of a six-mile wide glacier front where curious ring seals swam circles around our zodiac.
As we sailed through the ice in our ice breaker I looked out to see what was all the terrible noise and saw the ice and the Northern Lights.
